This commonplace book contains farm directions for curing beef, making compost, draining, grafting, making wine, and catching rats; recipes for beer, shoe-blacking, and bologna sausage; prescriptions for colds, fevers, toothache, and rheumatism; and instructions for engraving, etching, and making porcelain. It also contains a song about the Stamp Act, a "Parody on the Tempest by R. H. Esqr.," and recipes for diet drinks by James Logan and Dr. Cadwalader Evans.
